LORAIN — Police are looking for a 57-year-old man wanted in connection with the shooting death of a woman Saturday evening.
Police said residents should consider Anthony Wayne Davis armed and dangerous.
Davis was last seen walking east on West Seventh Court. Police said Davis had just left 916 W. Seventh Court.
Police answering a call for shots fired at 5:16 p.m. Saturday found Corrina Charlton, 59, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Charleton later died from her injuries. Police did not provide details about the gunshot wounds.
Davis is the primary suspect in Charlton’s death. Police issued an arrest warrant for murder against Davis.
According to online records of Lorain County Common Pleas Court, Davis has a long criminal history.
In 1991, a jury found Davis guilty of felonious assault, attempted murder and other charges. He shot a 16-year-old boy in the chest, according to court records.
For that crime, Davis was sentenced to eight to 15 years in prison. Davis returned to Lorain in 2004 after his release. Other charges came within a few years. They included forgery and theft.
In 2009, Davis had a series of drug indictments. Police said then he was a major heroin dealer, moving drugs with a crew from Detroit. Davis sold drugs near Larkmoor Elementary School on Nebraska Avenue, police said.
Anyone with knowledge of Davis’ whereabouts or additional information about Charlton’s death is asked to call police Sgt. Buddy Sivert at the Lorain Police Detective Division at (440) 204-2105.
